January is the perfect time to get organized and start new, and if being more productive is on your list of to-dos this year, this post is for you. Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper is here today with five home décor tips that are sure to help improve productivity, and who doesn’t need a little productivity boost when it comes to work?
Read on to find out her tips, and be prepared to swoon over her dreamy office space. Here’s to making this year your most productive one yet!
1. Establish Privacy Without Feeling Closed Off.
I wanted to create a private space that I can close off when needed, but that still felt open, so I chose French doors, which I would highly recommend. I love the natural light that flows in from the dining room window and the sense of openness it creates. My office is a small space, but the glass doors and window make it feel bigger than it is.
2. Avoid Clutter.
When a home office feels cluttered or messy, it’s easy to get distracted and focus on tidying instead of working. Before I had built-ins installed, I was constantly stacking up packages, mail and files everywhere. It was literally driving me crazy!
I envisioned the built-ins you see now to create a visually beautiful space to display things like my coffee book addiction, pictures and mementos. But it’s what is behind the cabinets that is the best part! I now have three huge filing cabinet drawers to file contracts, invoices and receipts for an easy and organized system. I also love that I can hide my printer and scanner and other not-so-glamorous office supplies. The new space feels organized and keeps my thoughts more organized as well.
